Quartermoon Band is North Florida's Americana treasure.  The band's founding members, John and Raven Smith, have had the pleasure of playing music for many, many years.  They are joined by wonderful musicians, such as Tom Nelly, George Webb, Tuck Tucker, Billy Gilmore and many other folks who love pickin' too. Quartermoon has been playing the Magnolia Festival and the Suwanee Springfest for many years, where they also host the Bill Monroe Shrine pickin' tent. Visit the Events page to see where you can catch Quartermoon Band next!  We can't wait to see you.

GramFest 2015

We had a great time at the 2015 GramFest, a tribute to the late, great Gram Parsons. John and Raven were joined by Tom Nelly, Tuck Tucker, and Kenneth Brian (visiting from L.A.). Daughter Carylee Pennington and grandson Japhy Pennington also joined Quartermoon. The venue was great, hosted by Akira Wood since the Bo Diddley Downtown Plaza, where the fest is usually held, is still under construction. Other bands playing Friday night were the Mick Marino Band, The Shambles, Wild Blue Yonder, Hard Luck Society and Talking Stick. Special thanks to Mick Marino for organizing another great fest. Here are some pictures from the night, taken by Scott Hargrave. For more pictures from the night, go to Quartermoon's FB page.

It is with a very heavy heart that Quartermoon and all those associated with the band say our farewell to Sue Cunningham following a five year battle with lung cancer. Sue was an extraordinarily accomplished musician, especially with the fiddle.  Along with her superb musical talent, Sue was one of the kindest and most humble human being one could ever meet. She will be missed terribly by all of us and by her sweet companion, Frank Serio.  One more fiddle player to serenade the angels.

Beautiful photo by Frank Serio.

Looking towards Magnolia Fest

The Magnolia Fest schedule is up for this year, October 15th - 18th. Quartermoon will be playing two sets, one on Friday the 16th in the Music Hall 6-7:15 pm and another on Saturday from 1-2 pm on the Porch Stage. Quartermoon will also be hosting the Bill Monroe Shrine, so come on over to the big tent. Bring your instrument if you have one, your chair if you want one and enjoy some good campground pickin'. We are really looking forward to seeing everybody for this beautiful festival, when fall is in the air and the fog is on the river in the morning. See you there!
Magnolia Fest lineup, schedule and ticket information

We had such a great time at the Suwannee Springfest this year.  It's such a beautiful, magical place with so many dearly loved friends and family (and new friends, too!) and we love being a part of it year after year.  We heard some great music from friends like The Short Straw Pickers, Taylor Martin's Acoustic Band, The Jon Stickley Trio and Steve Pruett's Back from the Brink.  There was a lot of great pickin' in the campground too!  We are looking forward to the Magnolia Festival in the fall at the lovely Suwannee Music Park.

Quartermoon at Hearken Night

The Halloween Hearken Night show at the High Springs Playhouse was a lot of fun.  It's so nice to play in such an intimate setting and get to visit with such great people.  The costumes were amazing and special thanks to the sponsors who provided the prizes for the costume contest.  We had so much fun and we hope that you did too.  Make sure to keep your ear to the ground about Hearken Night; it's a lovely venue.  Here are some pictures of John and Raven and Tom and Tuck from the show.  Japhy Pennington and Carylee Pennington also made guest appearances on stage.

Magnolia Festival

The 18th annual Magnolia Festival in Live Oak was a blast as always.  Quartermoon played two sets, first on the porch stage and then in the music hall.  The Bill Monroe Shrine was hopping with a bonfire and lots of great pickin'.  We saw some great bands, from classics like Rodney Crowell and Lyle Lovett to newer bands like the March Fourth Marching Band and Tornado Rider.  We are already looking forward to the Suwannee Springfest and can't wait to see you there.
